Robert A. Martin RRT


Robert A. Martin, 69, of Scottdale, passed away Thursday, Dec. 25, 2014, in Hempfield Manor, surrounded by his family. Robert was born May 23, 1945, a son of the late Harry and Clara (Kelly) Martin.

 

Bob was employed as a Respiratory therapist and was very proud of the fact that his respiratory therapist license number was 750. Professionally, Bob made numerous achievements and was respected for his work. He founded the respiratory therapy program between Indiana University of Pennsylvania and West Penn Hospital and was the former director of the School of Respiratory Therapy at West Penn. In addition, he was instrumental in setting up several of DME companies in Western Pennsylvania, including Key Med, formerly associated with Shadyside Hospital, Unlimited Home Care Products with Uniontown Hospital and Laurel Mountain Medical Supply Company, Mt. Pleasant. He also established the respiratory division at Blackburn's Pharmacy.

 

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Scottdale, and was a member of the Philanthropy Lodge No. 225 F and AM Greensburg. Bob was a life member of the Elks Lodge, past vice president of P.A.M.S, was a member of the Salvation Army and former surveyor of the Joint Commission.

 

Bob was a loving husband, father and grandfather to his family, which includes his devoted wife, Jonna (Peterson) Martin; his six children, Jonna (Crickett) Roth-Stellfox and Bruce, Grante Roth and Darla, Christian Roth and Brian Causey, Holly Roth-Ivory, Robert A. Martin II and Jeanette, and Kelly Martin Balachandran; four grandchildren, Spencer, Mackenzie, Kerby and Hannah; and his dog, Muggy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Dolores and Thelma.
