Director of Respiratory Care Services


Job Summary:
The Director of Respiratory Services plans, directs, organizes, leads, and coordinates the day-to-day operation of the Respiratory Therapy Department. Develops and implements policies and procedures which are consistent with JCAHO, OSHA, CLIA requirements, provides in-service for staff to include safety, infection control, and quality assurance, works with the Administration to develop long range planning, budgeting, staffing, as well as the management of employees and payroll for the Respiratory Therapy Department.

Minimum Requirements:
Minimum of five years health care administrative experience in an acute care environment required. Work requires strong management, financial, and interpersonal skills. Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration, Science, Business or related field required. Work requires excellent oral and written communication skills. Work requires excellent teaching and oral presentation abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:
5-7 years progressive experience, including familiarity with the technical and managerial aspects of a Respiratory Therapy Department, preferred. Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration, Business or related field preferred. Registration and/or license in a health care professional discipline a plus.

Job Description:  

Directs and manages the respiratory and pulmonary care for a designated group of patients, reporting to the Director and management team for Respiratory Care. In collaboration with the RN, provides direct care as dictated by patients' needs.

Minimum Requirements:  

  • Graduate from a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) accredited School of Respiratory Therapy required.
     

  • One year of appropriate respiratory care experience in an acute care facility within the past two years. 
     

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentialing by the National Board for Respiratory Care required.  NEW GRADUATES are encouraged to apply if taking the RRT National Boards within 1 month of hire.  New hires will have 1 month to obtain RRT credential.
     

  • Basic computer skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Pediatric NICU/PICU experience preferred

  • Experience in a children's hospital preferred

  • Adult critical care experience preferred

  • BS degree

 

Licensure and Certifications: 

  • Current Pennsylvania License as a Respiratory Care Practitioner required.

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentialing by the National Board for Respiratory Care required. 

  • Current BLS Health Care Provider within 1 month of employment. 

  • ACLS/PALS within 9 months of employment. 

  • All pediatric/neonatal practitioners need to obtain their STABLE and NRP within 9 months of employment. 

  • All Medical / Surgical therapists need to obtain their AE-C within 9 months of employment.

  • NPS certification for all pediatric/neonatal practitioners within 9 months of employment.

  • Influenza vaccinations is required at most LVHN facilities for all colleagues with patient contact unless medically contraindicated or due to a bona fide religious belief or practice, and is strongly encouraged for all colleagues.
