Penn Medicine's Hospital of the University of PA is seeking full-time Registered Respiratory Therapists to join their growing staff as they prepare to expand and open a new facility!  The Pavilion will house 500 private patient rooms and 47 operating rooms in a 1.5 million square foot, 17-story facility across from the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania and adjacent to the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine.  Respiratory therapists play a major role in helping Penn Medicine provide the highest level of care to patients, conducting innovative research, and educating future leaders in the field of medicine.

Respiratory Therapist - Full-Time - Hospital of the University of PA

Job Description

  • Collaborates with the healthcare team to provide respiratory care to patients.

  • Maintains population specific competence to care for the neonate through geriatric patient.

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide individualized care based on the physical, cultural, educational, and age-specific needs of the patient.

  • Complies with all rules and standards of regulatory and accrediting bodies.

  • Completes continuing education to maintain compliance with the State of Pennsylvania licensure regulations and credentialing.

  • Completes all requirements to maintain active status for all credentials held from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).

  • Incumbents must be registered by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) within 1 year of entering this job.  Promotion to Level II is automatic upon registration by the NBRC.

Minimum Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma/GED and 0-1 years clinical experience.

  • Graduate of Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) accredited Respiratory Care program. Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred.

  • Active license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of PA. 

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential issued by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).

  • NBRC credentials are to be active and maintained per the rules and regulations of the State of PA and the NBRC continuing competency requirements.

  • Current CPR certification

  • ACLS recommended (Critical Care-primary) and NRP required (ICN staff only) within 6 months of hire.
